Some insurance professionals place coverage. Sam Hanmer builds the networks that make better coverage possible.
As the former CEO of FieldEddy Insurance — one of Western Massachusetts’ most respected independent agencies — Sam grew the firm into a regional force before it was acquired by HUB International, one of the world’s largest insurance brokerage networks. That acquisition wasn’t an ending. It was proof of concept.
Now at Rush Insurance Group, Sam is doing it again. By strategically acquiring and merging local agencies into the Rush network, he is expanding the number of insurance markets and carriers available to every Rush client. More markets means more competition for your business — and better coverage at more competitive rates. It’s the buying power of a large network with the personal relationships of a locally owned agency.
Sam also oversees the modernization of technology across Rush’s agency network, ensuring clients benefit from faster service, streamlined policy management, and a more responsive claims experience.
His roots in this region run deep. Sam has served as Board Chair of Baystate Health Foundation, the Springfield YMCA, and Springfield Museums. He is a past Citizen of the Year for the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield and a past Person of the Year for the March of Dimes. He has also served on the boards of Bay Path College and other civic institutions — a record of community investment that spans decades.
Sam began his career at Liberty Mutual Insurance before joining FieldEddy as Treasurer and ultimately rising to CEO. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and carries a Licensed Insurance Advisor designation.
